Episode 111: You Can’t Impact What You Can’t Measure

December 22, 2021 by exponentialwisdom

One of Dan’s key quotes, also a foundational coaching concept in Strategic Coach, is “your ears only hear and your eyes only see what you’re looking for,” meaning that we only notice breakthroughs when we search for them. In this episode, Peter and Dan discuss the many business examples and industries in which this applies.

In this episode:

  • Peter talks about longevity technologies and one of his latest companies, Fountain Life, which uses advanced diagnostics to measure every aspect of your health. The company is solely focused on collecting patient data, making it understandable, and providing actionable insights for lifestyle changes.
  • Dan discusses the impact of mindset on longevity, offering myriad examples of friends and relatives whose failure to cultivate a longevity mindset has led to health problems.
  • Peter touches on the need for an improved health insurance system, one focused on technological breakthroughs and proactive extension of the healthy human lifespan.

Episode 57: Who, Not How

August 7, 2018 by exponentialwisdom

Dan explains why entrepreneurs struggle with procrastination and introduces a new method he uses to implement new ideas.

Changing the thought process from “how to do this” to “who can do this” is a game-changer.

In this episode:

  • Peter explains using the “Who, Not How” method in his company, and why instead of creating a to-do list, he spends the year creating Impact Filters (a Strategic Coach client tool) explaining why the project is important, defining criteria for success, and then picking a point person to implement the task.
  • Dan explains why first-time entrepreneurs start with how — because at the beginning, there’s no one else to delegate to — but as time goes on and the company grows, this becomes a bad habit.
  • Peter gives an example of gaining back hundreds of hours of time, an Abundance of time, by delegating a project to his summer interns.
